Endress+Hauser's highly successful IsFET glassless pH electrode is unbreakable, responds quickly at all temperature ranges and has no diaphragm membrane that can dry out and lead to electrode failure. Its IsFET's consistently fast response times and high stability greatly simplify inline pH measurement. Together with its robust PEEK construction, this creates an ideal sensor for use in food and pharmaceutical applications.
Endress+Hauser has now introduced two further versions of IsFET, specially optimised to cope with tough hygienic applications and with applications prone to build-up. Each of these versions conforms to 3A, EHEDG and FDA requirements, and ; each features an integrated temperature sensor to provide effective temperature compensation. ; and, u Unlike glass electrodes, IsFET can be mounted horizontally and this greatly simplifies installation. each can even be mounted horizontally - flush to the process vessel wall for easy installation.
The new IsFET CPS 441 IsFET electrode, which has a liquid KCl reference, is ideal for all food industry applications. Its ceramic diaphragm is protected from protein blockage by the continuous flow of KCl, which also purges the diaphragm and thus prevents it the electrode from being 'poisoned' by harsh chemicals. On the one hand, CPS 441 increases maintenance requirements because the KCl reservoir needs to be regularly topped up (about once every one or two weeks, depending on the process); on the other, it requires less frequent cleaning and provides a longer overall electrode life.
The new IsFET CPS 471 IsFET electrode, which has a KCl gel reference, is ideal for pharmaceutical and biochemical applications and for situations with less harsh build-up. CPS 471 withstands process conditions from -15°C to +135°C and is fully sterilisable and autoclavable. Its KCl gel does not need to be topped up, reducing maintenance requirements. Combining CPS 471 with a CPA 475 CleanFit retractable assembly is ideal for CIP processes, and is generally recommended to reduce overall maintenance requirements and extend electrode life.
'A glass pH electrode is vulnerable to damage in most process environments, and dangerous if broken in food and pharmaceutical applications,' comments John Immelman of Endress+Hauser Australia. 'The robust PEEK material of which the IsFET glassless electrode is made eliminates these concerns - and IsFET provides fast response times to process changes.'
