Pressure for Paper

Cerabar Flush mount

The  advantages of the latest version of Endress+Hauser's Cerabar-S pressure transmitter makes it the superior choice for measuring absolute or gauge pressure of gases, steams or liquids in paper and pulp applications. Exceptionally user-friendly, the new Cerabar-S now measures up to 700 bar, operates in direct contact with the process at temperatures up to 350°C and comes with an extensive range of process connections for all pulp processes.

For low-pressure applications (full vacuum up to 40 bar), the new Cerabar-S still incorporates the respected ceramic cell -  Ceraphire®.  Thanks to its 99.9% Al2O3 purity, Ceraphire® is even more resistant to mechanical abrasion and damage in pulp applications and even more chemically inert than the original ceramic cell. The material is up to 30 times thicker than metal membranes, oil-free and can be flush mounted in applications up to 150°C.

For higher-pressure applications up to 700 bar, the new Cerabar-S incorporates a mono-silicone cell with stainless steel diaphragm which can withstand temperatures up to 180oC.   For applications up to 350°C, chemical seals are available. Accuracy is now 0.05% of the measured variable, and stability is 0.05% of the upper range limit/year.  All internationally accepted Ex approvals are available, ATEX, FM, CSA, as well as IEC.

New Cerabar-S now offers unique data storage and transfer capabilities. It incorporates a HistoROM?/M-DAT - a chip that stores a wide range of data including the last 25 hours of process variables, temperature and pressure  the configuration settings of the transmitter (which can be uploaded and downloaded as required) and event recording (with electronic signatures). This enables speedy trouble-shooting and retrospective analysis in the event of a problem in the process, and also allows the device to be readily transferred from one process to another together with relevant calibration data.

The robust housing of new Cerabar-S has been designed to satisfy the new  safety demands for process measuring devices, including SIL2 and PED (Pressure Equipment Directive) requirements. Two versions are available: a die-cast, powder-coated aluminium housing and a stainless steel housing suitable for all applications in highly aggressive environments as found in paper mills.  Both versions feature secondary containment design, in which the sensor compartment is mechanically separated from the electronics compartment in order to eliminate the possibility of harm to the operators in the event of a process accident.

'The new features of Cerabar-S make it the safest, most convenient and highest performing pressure measurement transmitter on the market,' comments John Immelman of Endress+Hauser Australia. 'With its SIL, PED and Ex approvals, up-to-the-minute data storage capabilities and extended operating and measurement parameters, it's the complete solution for all pressure applications in the paper & pulp industry.'
