Optimize the performance of your thickener

Concentrating precious metals and minerals more effectively

The thickening process is a fundamental step in modern mining separation processes. Thickening is the separation of suspended particles from a liquid by gravity settling. The mineral feed stream enters the thickener through the central feed well as slurry. Solids settle on the tank bottom and this process is sped up by adding a liquid chemical flocculent. This forces the particles to agglomerate and maintain a higher settling velocity than that of the upward flowing fluid.

Your benefits

  • Reduced risk of tank overflow

  • Cost reduction in flocculent dosing

  • Precise measurements of slurry underflow rates

  • Accurate online calculation of solids content

  • Better water utilization

Find the best-fit instrumentation

For effective thickener control, six measurements are critical: bed mass inventory, bed level, underflow density and flow, flocculent dosing and overflow clarity. As the plant conditions are very dirty, these measurements are not easy and require a lot of attention to select and install the proper equipment.
