Endress+Hauser joins United Nations sustainability initiative 

Endress+Hauser has joined the United Nations Global Compact. By becoming a member of the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative, the Swiss specialist in measurement and automation technology is expanding its network.  

“Sustainability cannot be achieved alone. The major challenges of our time can only be tackled through cooperation. The UN Global Compact offers a strong international platform for this. There, we can share experiences, draw on new ideas and, together with partners, drive forward the sustainable transformation of industry,” emphasizes Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr Peter Selders. 

The UN Global Compact comprises more than 20,000 companies from over 160 countries. The initiative expects its members to align their business activities and strategy with 10 universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labor, environment and anti-corruption.

“We support the goals of the United Nations and wish to contribute to their achievement – both directly through our own business activities and indirectly through the use of our products by our customers,” says CEO Peter Selders.  

Even before joining the UN Global Compact, Endress+Hauser had aligned itself with the United Nations Global Goals and initiated specific measures in environment, social and governance areas. The Group’s ambitious climate targets have been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative.

By 2034, Endress+Hauser aims to reduce emissions from its own operations and purchased energy by 80 percent, and those along the value chain by 35 percent – in each case compared with the base year 2023. By 2050, the target is to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions.

The company is committed to respecting and upholding human rights. To fulfill this commitment, it has, among other measures, established a whistleblower system for reporting potential violations. 

In addition, it employs digital support: The Group has more than 12,000 suppliers and uses risk management software that continuously monitors publicly available information and online media to identify areas of concern at an early stage. The company also conducts site visits and audits to verify compliance with human rights and environmental due diligence obligations. 

Endress+Hauser demonstrated the importance of dialogue and partnership for the company at the Global Forum 2026, which was held under the theme ‘Driving sustainable transformation together.’ Over 2,000 customers, partners and experts from around the world gathered in Basel at the invitation of the family-owned company to discuss solutions for the sustainable transformation of the process industry.
